Southern Soleil Studio is being built for dancers who want excellent training, a welcoming community, and a place where they can grow with confidence.

Our studio will offer classes for ages 2 through adult, including ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, lyrical, contemporary, tumbling, creative movement, company performing opportunities and community outreach opportunities.

At Southern Soleil, dancers can train seriously without losing the joy of dancing. We believe in strong technique, thoughtful teaching, and a studio culture where dancers feel known, supported, and challenged.

Founders

Mae Morgan

Founder · Director

A dance educator, choreographer, and performer with over a decade of teaching and a lifelong foundation in classical ballet. Originally from Columbia, South Carolina, Mae trained at Ann Brodie’s Carolina Ballet Center, then continued at the School of American Ballet, Boston Ballet School, CPYB, American Ballet Theatre, and The Bolshoi Academy. She trained as a Professional Trainee with Richmond Ballet and most recently served as Assistant Studio Manager at Steps on Broadway in New York.

behind the work.

Mae Morgan —

Founder · Director

Mae Morgan

A dance educator, choreographer, and studio leader with over a decade of teaching experience and a lifelong foundation in classical ballet. Originally from Columbia, South Carolina, Mae began her training at Ann Brodie's Carolina Ballet Center under the artistic direction of Mimi Worrell, then continued through nationally recognized programs including the School of American Ballet, Boston Ballet School, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, and The Bolshoi Academy.

Mae trained as a Professional Trainee with Richmond Ballet and has performed with South Carolina Ballet, Columbia Dance Repertory Company, Ann Brodie's Carolina Ballet, Eglevsky Ballet, the University of South Carolina Dance Program, and Trustus Theater — spanning classical ballet, contemporary, theatrical dance, and soloist and principal guest roles.

As a teacher, she has worked with dancers from early childhood through adult across ballet, pointe, pre-pointe, jazz, tap, variations, strength and conditioning, and choreography. She has served as a répétiteur and rehearsal director, and most recently as Assistant Studio Manager at Steps on Broadway in New York City.

A former June Taylor Dancer on the Jackie Gleason show, Kathy has danced in numerous films and television specials, including Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, Pennies from Heaven, Annie (as Bernadette Peters’ double in Easy Street), The Sonny and Cher Show, and Disney on Parade.

Kathy taught on the faculty of ShowCase Studio, Inc. in California for 13 years before joining Dance Stop Studios for 33 years. She was especially honored to have served as choreographer for the music department at Sprayberry High School for six years, and has trained dancers of all ages and levels throughout her career.

Katharine Clark — Ballet · Pointe

Katharine is originally from Columbus, Georgia, and received her early training at the CSU Dance Conservatory. She continued her training at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, in its high school ballet program, where she performed featured roles in Les Sylphides, Makarova's La Bayadère, and Balanchine's Allegro Brillante, Donizetti Variations, and Serenade, as well as The Nutcracker.

She went on to dance professionally with the Kansas City Ballet Second Company and later joined the Sarasota Ballet as a member of the corps de ballet.

Following her performing career, Katharine earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Science from Auburn University, graduating summa cum laude in 2023. She completed her Master of Science in Nursing with honors at Emory University in December 2025 and further specialized in neonatal intensive care nursing. Katharine is passionate about educating the next generation of dancers and empowering young artists to reach their goals as performers.

With over 30 years of dance experience, Cheryl has trained extensively in ballet, tap, jazz and contemporary dance. Throughout her career she has had the opportunity to perform across the United States and Europe, enriching her appreciation for diverse styles and artistic expression.

For more than 15 years Cheryl has shared her passion for dance with children and adults in Florida, Germany and Georgia. As an instructor she strives to inspire confidence, creativity and a lifelong love of the arts. Nothing brings her greater joy than watching her students grow in both skill and passion while developing an appreciation for the beauty and discipline of dance.

Rain Hicks has been a dedicated performer for 18 years, beginning her dance training at the age of five at Miss Libby's School of Dance in Sumter, South Carolina. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance Performance and Choreography from the University of South Carolina-Columbia, where she continued to develop her artistry as a performer, choreographer, and educator.

With five years of teaching and choreographing experience, Rain is passionate about sharing her love of movement while mentoring dancers of all ages. In 2023, she became a member of Unbound Dance Company, continuing her work with the company in 2025 and 2026 as both a performer and choreographer. In 2025, Rain joined Atlanta Contemporary Dance Company and, in 2026, advanced to the role of a Principal Dancer.

Based in Atlanta, Rain continues to pursue her artistry through performance, choreography, and freelance teaching throughout the Southeast. Her work explores a variety of styles and focuses on storytelling, creativity, and connection through movement. Through her passion for dance, Rain strives to inspire dancers to embrace their individuality and growth both in the studio and on stage.

Laura Anne Kay — Ballet · Contemporary

Laura Anne Kay

Ballet · Contemporary

A dancer, choreographer, and educator originally from Salem, Virginia, Laura Anne trained in classical ballet and contemporary/modern styles before attending the University of South Carolina on a dance scholarship, where she earned a B.A. in Dance Performance and Choreography.

During her time at USC, she had the opportunity to work with companies including the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Co., Complexions Contemporary Ballet, and Joffrey Ballet Chicago, and attended the American Dance Festival in 2023 and 2024. After graduation, she performed with Unbound Dance Company in Columbia, SC.

Laura Anne has since become a company member with Atlanta Contemporary Dance Company and an Immerse ATL 2026 Artist. Based in Atlanta, she is a highly technical dancer who is passionate about fusing artistry into classical ballet and investigating how that classical vocabulary can be expanded into new, innovative pathways.

Aimee LaBrecque

A professional dancer, choreographer, and teacher with 10 years of experience training dancers of all ages and levels. Aimee is passionate about helping dancers not only improve technically, but also develop confidence, artistry, and a stronger connection to movement and music.

Specializing in jazz, contemporary, lyrical, and hip hop, Aimee places a strong focus on musicality, textures, movement dynamics, and performance quality while still building a strong technical foundation.
